Even though I've modded Miao Ying to be overwhelmingly powerful as a faction, she still gets slaughtered by Vilitch, Chaos Dwarfs, or the Norscan raiders. It's so hard to subjugate her as Archaon.

I really want harry to be promoted to a legendary lord and just have his campaign focused around bodying the undead. Start him right by the border princes so he is nesssled right in between the borrow legion the tomb kings and big bad vlad.

The Slayer novels are so goddamn good, and we'll written too, AND, they are a PERFECT read for anyone who wants to read fantasy novels. Getting into Warhammer can be a bit intimidating since it can be hard to know where to start. Well, these novels are made for that. You don't need to know anything. There's no lore homework to do. Just enjoy the insane escapades of Gotrek and Felix and all the amazing characters they come across. The audio books are also excellent, in case you need something to listen to while painting that pile of grey plastic.

the EZ way is to just let people paint them & have flags/trees that add buffs so people can make their own chapters/GS/T/insert side faction here/ or recreate an existing 1... & make a custom lord/leader &or grab a premade 1 freedom is fun dictators devs suck

just look at helldivers 1 & 2 HD1 was a top down cam & HD2 was FPS/3ps cam so tell the corpos to look at the charts & do the math people enjoy FPS 3ps cam style way more & some of the new FPS/RTS hybrid games just kick ass ... u can do both

RTS/FPS hybrids r the new hotness check out ( mount & blade BL ) or ( silica ) or ( outpost infinity siege ) its more fun to be on ground floor with your troops :)🤞

The thing about total war is that whoever is the iconic heroic starter faction has to play as simple and traditional as possible since thats the faction that new players are always encouraged to play as by the system. To that end I dont think that horde style space marines will be the main iconic faction in total war's 40k, but rather the imperial guard. You would have to do something funky with the gameplay for space marines since like you say they dont actually colonize and populate territory with civilians and builders. They could work like Nakai the wanderer where you just control the military and any territory you take is automatically transferred to an imperial guard factions control and they pay you tribute to keep you going (and chaos marines would work the same with like traitor guard or a demon faction instead)
